Atlassian has redesigned its talent acquisition processes based on scientific research and standardized processes designed to raise the bar and bring more balance to its technology teams. Aubrey Blanche, Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Atlassian, explains in a talk at Interop 2018 how the company built a new interview and talent evaluation process and learned to improve language of job descriptions and postings to encourage better response rates. These changes, focusing on scientific principles rather than gut feelings or culture fit, resulted in an 80% increase of female technical hires and tripled representation of black and Hispanic engineers over the last three years.
